BOOZE SERPENT

Began in Antalya in 2019 as Bilge Özce's solo project, with no settled genre at first: doom's weight, grind's speed and the dirt of black and death metal ran through the same recordings, and the name matched that — drink, serpent, a drunk kind of dark. The "Drünkard" demo followed in 2020 and a first album, "Slices of Death", in 2021, played live from beginning to end with no drum machine and no MIDI anywhere in it, which was a position in itself in a period when most demos were assembled on a computer. "Toxic Brew", from the same year, hosted Batu Çetin of Cenotaph. The turn came in 2025, when a permanent line-up joined Özce and Booze Serpent stopped being one person's noise and became a three-piece; the drunk chaos of the early records gave way to the slow, heavy atmosphere of black doom and sludge. That is the band "Nefrin" documents — eight tracks released on 18 October 2025 by Plague Demon Records, the Philadelphia underground label run by Namtar Axarcuth of Namtaru, with the mix and master largely Özce's own work. "Nefrin" means curse, and its lead single "Nefrinle Yan" is about anger consuming the person carrying it. Two more singles came in 2026, one of them "Hiç Umut Yok" alongside İzmir's Yüz Karası, between shows in Antalya and İzmir.
