WHO WE ARE
We started in İzmir in June 2026. The aim was simple: write about the bands in this country making their own music that nobody was writing about. Three months later it had become a structure that brings media, visual production and event organisation together.
Today we work on three arms: Demirhane Sound runs the media side, Demirhane Visuals the visual production, and JUNK Events the concerts and events.
WHY
A scene does not stand on one person’s effort. A band rehearses, draws its own poster, makes its own announcement, and ends up playing in front of its own friends. The same evening, at the other end of the city, somebody else is living exactly the same thing. Both get tired of it after a while and stop, and what is left behind is neither an audience nor anything that carries on.
Changing that is not complicated: go to another band’s show, share your friend’s poster, give work to an illustrator you know, pay the photographer what their work is worth. Small things — and precisely the things that hold a scene up.
The band next door reaching more listeners stands in nobody’s way. It makes the same room bigger. We are all inside that room.
HOW WE WORK
Artist Spotlight is free
Completely free. We do not take money to write about a band, and we never will. We decide who to cover by listening to the music, not by counting followers.
Your own songs first
We give priority to bands playing their own material. We respect tribute work and we cover it when it is done well, but our weight is with the people writing their own songs.
We take no cut
No commission for introductions. The illustrators, photographers and designers under Demirhane Visuals set their own prices and are paid directly by the client. We only put people in the same room.
HOW THE THREE WORK TOGETHER
Demirhane Sound
Free Artist Spotlight pieces, interviews, live diaries and announcements, published on Instagram and demirhanesound.com. We are the official media sponsor for organisers in several cities.
Demirhane Visuals
Design, photography, music video and video production. It gives independent visual artists somewhere to show their work and find clients, and the shoots it produces are published on Demirhane Sound as well.
JUNK! Events
Puts on concerts in İzmir, and announces and supports events that already exist. Demirhane Sound handles the promotion, Demirhane Visuals the visual side.
WHERE WE ARE GOING
We are starting in İzmir, but we have no intention of staying here. We are growing the team, and we will be in other cities too.
A community does not form on its own. It has to be built again every day, and there is nobody else to do it for us.
Let’s look after each other.

WHAT GOES INTO THE ARCHIVE
Two kinds of record live here side by side. Editorial pieces are written by Demirhane. Everything else — a band’s own page, a release, a show — is published by the artist and marked as theirs, so nobody has to guess who is speaking. Submissions are reviewed before they reach the public archive, and a page belongs to the account that made it.
